Pick Up Your Wounded

Pick Up Your Wounded CD cover

"Pick Up Your Wounded" is our first recording; a collection of Barn Dance / Ceilidh tunes which were primarily recorded to let people hear what we sounded like before booking us. However, we've also sold them to folks who just enjoy listening to the band. Good for jiggin' round the house or varnishing the cat to. Those with good eyesight may notice that this is our old line up, but the sound and "feel" of our music remains the same. Unfortunately, the cassette is now unavailable but......

Stop Press Yes we've reached the 21st century so you can now get this recording on a new fangled CD.

n.b. Unfortunately the wax cylinders and 78's are now out of stock. You can't get the bees you know!

This CD is hugely underpriced at:

£8.00 + £2.00 p&p.

The Squire's Thingumbob And Kitty's What You May Call It

The Squire's Thingumbob And Kitty's What You May Call It CD cover

The Squire's Thingumbob And Kitty's What You May Call It: This is Maggie and Stan's second duo CD. We have always done Bawdy Ballads concerts, but have never recorded any, so we thought we should. However, we want to be totally clear here, this is a scholarly exercise and in no way is it an excuse just to sing mucky songs .......... no really, it isn't.
These are the bawdy songs sung in the song and supper clubs of the early to mid nineteenth century. Here is a small collection of our favourites, printed between 1834 and 1838 by William West.

At the popular price of :

£10.00 + £2.00 p&p.

Listen to the Band

These tracks are taken from Pick Up Your Wounded and are therefore of our old line up. (See new line up on the home page). The addition of Jill and Jim has really filled out the sound but the overall feel, sound and bounce of the music is very similar.

I've sacrificed a bit of quality for speed on the MP3s as they are only designed to give you an idea of the band. If you have a slow broadband connection (like me, my fault shouldn't live in the country!!!) you may, even now, need to pause the playback until the download gets ahead of itself. If these links take you to a new page or tab, then simply close the tab when you've finished listening and return to the main site.

Pluck 'n' Squeeze playing Waiting for the Wagon and Dennington Bell (MP3 format 940KB).

Guess what tune this is! Again from our Pick Up Your Wounded CD (MP3 format 650KB).

For those of you who haven't got broadband or are using a 14.4k or a 56k modem and can't be bothered spending the rest of your life downloading mp3s, you can listen to this short snippet (20 or so seconds) in appaling quality .WAV format, but it will give you some idea. This file is 230K in size and will take 2-3 minutes to load. So click on the link below and go and make a coffee.
